2019 Nevada Debate

The University of Nevada, Reno Debate Team is one of the Debate Team Banner on campusoldest and most successful co-curricular programs in the history of the university. With 7 National Championships in the last 10 years, Nevada Debate is a thriving program that continues to grow every year.

To ensure that Nevada Debate continues to thrive well into the future, we need your support. We have secured $9,000 in matching gifts to the Griffin/Santini Memorial Endowment, which will double the impact of your gift!

The Robert S. Griffin/W. Clark Santini Memorial Endowment is vital to ensuring the future of the Nevada Debate program. Support to the endowment allows us to meet the current needs of the team. This year, our top priorities are student scholarships and travel funds. Participating in Nevada Debate takes a lot of dedication, each team member is required to commit a minimum of 15 hours each week to research, class, and practice. This time commitment often limits their ability to take on paid employment, increasing scholarship support will help to minimize the financial burden of participating in a program such as Nevada Debate.

This year, the team is excited to be traveling to regional and national Debate team with trophiestournaments throughout the country, such as the National Parliamentary Debate Association National Championships in Salt Lake City and the United States Universities Debating Championships in Clemson, South Carolina. We’ve estimated that travel for these two tournaments alone, will cost about $9,000. Travel expenses for the entire season will exceed $25,000.

Every gift to Nevada Debate, no matter the size will make an impact to the program.
