College of Education
“World-Class” College of Education
Thank you for joining us on our journey to becoming “world-class”. This is your College of Education, and we are so proud of our dynamic students and faculty who are working to elevate education in Northern Nevada, statewide and beyond.
To us, being “world-class” means:
- We are committed to high-quality research designed to enhance the learning, development, and knowledge of our community members through classroom practice in STEM through the NevadaTeach program and the Raggio Research Center for STEM Education, and through early childhood education in the E.L. Cord Foundation Center for Learning and Literacy and our Child & Family Research Center.
- Our Student Success Center provides a space for the college to recruit, retain and graduate quality educators, leaders and professionals. Our Early Learning Center and Nell J. Redfield Learning and Resource Center are partnerships that nurture young learners and provide teachers with resources to reach all kids.
- For 20 years, Dean’s Future Scholars (DFS) has been one of the most effective outreach programs geared towards increasing high school graduation rates and college access to students in low-income, first generation communities. Our Girls Math and Technology Camp provides middle school girls an opportunity to explore math and increase their interest in math and technology fields.
Your gift matters to our College and our students! These programs and others rely on your philanthropic support! Your gifts support training future teachers, provides scholarships, increases access to STEM technology and helps us to create
learning spaces that match the demands of the 21st century world.
“Being ‘world-class’ means being recognized for high-quality research and programming that moves our community forward. On our journey, the College of Education has to produce innovative research, remain relevant with a purpose and mission, and engage with our community and state. This work has to place Nevada first in producing quality educators and professionals who can contribute to the economic growth of Nevada.”
