School of Social Work
We are excited to announce that the School of Social Work became an independent academic unit at the University of Nevada, Reno this summer and the School has been reshaped to focus on teaching students to be values-oriented leaders.
Meaning at its core, the school's mission is to educate, train and nurture competent, committed, compassionate and diverse social work leaders who advance the social justice mission of social work through their leadership in research, public policy, academics and clinical practice at local, national and global levels. Support from alumni and friends, like you, enables the School of Social Work to accomplish this ambitious mission.
The School of Social Work’s mission and goals are oriented around making sure that our students are not just professional helpers, but social justice leaders as well. Indeed, our students are crucial societal change agents.
The School’s driving message is that it’s a place of “values-oriented leaders,” who are developed through competence, diversity, leadership, social justice, integrity, dignity, relationships and service. These values are the driving themes within the School.
We know that Social work is growing rapidly with the demand for Masters and Bachelor level social workers expected to increase by 16 percent in the next eight to 10 years nationally.
This growth is why support from our alumni and friends is more critical than ever. Please consider making a tax deductible year-end gift to the School of Social Work. You support now will ensure we are ready for the increasing demands our School faces in the near future. If you have questions or would like more information about supporting the School of Social Work, please contact Christina Sarman at firstname.lastname@example.org or (775) 784-6009.
Every gift, no matter the size, will make a difference in our inaugural year as an independent academic unit.
