2020 Nevada Ski Team
NEW STRETCH GOAL: $10,870 to help cover the costs of entry fees for the 11 skiers and boarders who qualified for the 2020 USCSA Nationals in Lake Placid, New York.
The University of Nevada Ski Team, since its inception in 1932, is alive and well, competing in the USCSA (United State Collegiate Ski Association). We have 5 returners, including USCSA Skier Cross National Champion, Mikael Proper, in addition to 9 new team members along with new coach, Chad Ewoldt, a former Nevada racer. With 2 weekends completed, our men’s and women’s teams have had a good showing in Conference competitions. Please see below for our current roster and the 2020 race schedule. Results will be added tot he UPDATES tab on this page, so check back frequently.
Financial support for our team is challenging, especially given the continually rising costs of travel, lift tickets, and equipment. The Annual Ski Swap went well and our University of Nevada endowment continues to provide a small contribution to the team's costs, however, we still fall short of meeting our financial needs. This means the racers are having to pay for most of the costs themselves. Therefore, we’re reaching out to ask you for assistance to alleviate some of the costs for our student-athletes. This year, we are hoping to cover the cost of racers' lift tickets for all remaining races leading up to Nationals. Our racers have already paid for their uniforms and ski equipment.
Our goal for this campaign is to raise enough to cover the cost of lift tickets for 4 remaining races and Regionals. The estimated cost is $60 per race for lift tickets for 6 races ($360/athlete), for all 14 skiers/boarders is $5,040.
Skiing has been a tradition of not only the University, but the Reno-Tahoe community. Please help to support the 2020 Nevada Ski Team and help ensure the continued success of our student-racers.
