Class of 1970 Endowment
Lately, the reference to “extraordinary times” has been used over and over. I’ve always thought that extraordinary should be positive. Like the extraordinary senior year we shared at Nevada, the extraordinary careers our Nevada education helped us launch, the extraordinary friends we made in college, and the extraordinary families we have embraced over these years.
Can you believe it’s been fifty years since we graduated? I hope you also fondly remember our 1969-1970 academic year. I especially recall N. Edd Miller Day when we gathered at the campus gates at 6:15 a.m. to show our appreciation of President Miller, during a time when violent campus protests filled the headlines. Our Nevada story made international news that year. With this tribute and many other accomplishments, we truly left a lasting and powerful legacy at Nevada.
Please join me in a unique opportunity we have to invest in Nevada’s future by fully funding the Class of 1970 Endowment. Our class has already raised nearly $6,000. When the fund reaches $10,000, it will become a permanent endowment, and once we reach $25,000 the University will annually award a scholarship in honor of the Class of 1970!
If each of us could give whatever amount we can, together we can support Nevada’s future with our gifts to the Class of 1970 Endowment. A gift to our class fund affirms our belief in the value of a Nevada education.
I wish we were celebrating in person this year, but that just isn’t possible at this time. Instead, I am excited to see everyone during the virtual events planned by the Nevada Alumni Association. To celebrate the Class of 1970, several virtual Golden Reunion events have been scheduled for September 11th and 12th. If you are interested in participating, please contact Jessica Langley at (775) 784-4878 or email@example.com.
If you have any questions about supporting our legacy, please contact Torrey Hood, at (775) 682-6544 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
We hope to see you (virtually) next month at the 50th Reunion – Go Pack!
