The College of Liberal Arts’ Applied Liberal Arts initiative is part of that preparation, focusing on helping students acquire the in-demand, employer-aligned skills needed to succeed in today’s careers. The critical thinking, communication, and cultural literacy skills valued by employers are, of course, hallmarks of a University of Nevada, Reno liberal arts education. However, our Applied Liberal Arts initiative helps clarify connections between a student’s education and their life, their job, and their future—providing more intentional directions for employment after graduation.
As part of our emphasis on applied experiences, the College of Liberal Arts is dedicated to providing students with the opportunity to connect their learning to real-world scenarios through pursuing one or more internships. Your gift to one of the CLA Internship funds will help us to develop and enrich our internship offerings, ensuring that students enjoy opportunities that are continually expanding.
Can we count on you to make a gift today?
Many worthwhile internships are unpaid, so not all students can afford to take advantage of these opportunities. Your support towards our internship endowments will expand access to these experiences. Please consider a gift to one of these funds:
- The Dan Lofrese Liberal Arts Internship fund provides funding to CLA students who are participating in internships with businesses, agencies, and organizations.
- The Frances Sumner Trachok Fine Arts Internship provides Art students an opportunity to acquire applied professional experience in the field of arts administration or education.
- The Weatherford Family Public Service Internship Endowment supports CLA’s Political Science students participating in public service or governmental internships.
Our Applied Liberal Arts Initiative is a formula for success, and we hope you will partner with us to help CLA students be prepared to thrive in the years ahead. Your gift to any of the mentioned internship funds will be directed to a permanent fund which generates an annual payout.
