University Libraries 2021

University Libraries 2021

The Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center and DeLaMare Science and Engineering Library serve as centers of community, student engagement, and knowledge creation. We know that our University of Nevada, Reno students and faculty cannot achieve academic success without the support of the Libraries and we continuously strive to meet ever-evolving challenges of an increasingly hybrid teaching, learning and working environment.

These highlights are just a few of the Libraries' recent initiatives designed to promote student success and engagement. All of these projects require deep library expertise and financial support. Your gift to the University Libraries will ensure that we can continue to support these and the other resources our students, faculty, and community depend on.

  • We are working with faculty to adopt Open Educational Resources (OERs) to reduce student expenses. OERs are freely available high-quality resources intended for classroom use.
  • Undergraduates enrolled in a museum studies course have contributed to the Virtual Museum of Native American Basketry, a 3D digital collection of baskets made by Native American weavers from roughly 1840 to 1930.
  • The Special Collections & University Archives Department serves as a laboratory and exploration space for deep research and engaged learning. The Harry Reid Fellow Blog, the Pandemic Photography Project, and Realities of Undocumented Immigrants Oral History Project are just some of the collections with contributions from our students.

The positive, forward momentum of the University Libraries and the University of Nevada, Reno is energizing. Our goal is to build on this excellent work and position the University Libraries to maximize our contributions to teaching, learning, and research at an R1 university. Your tax-deductible gift will help us achieve this vision—please give today.
